It was during the time of Pesach

 

Yehoshua HaMashiach made this Statement to the ones who were gathering together with Him, namely His Disciples :

 

Yehochanan 13 : 34-35 : « A New Commandment I give you, that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, that you also are to love one another.  By this all will know that you are My Disciples, if you love one another ».

 

Obviously, He did not make a public Advice, He spoke exclusively with them inside four walls. The reason why He gave them this New Commandment was because His countrymen hated Him and He knew that they will also persecute them, and a fortiori they should remain united that the others may know that they demonstrate His Love through their love to one another.

 

Yehochanan 15 : 14 – 15 : « You are My Friends if you do according to what I command you. I will not call you anymore servants, for the servant does not know what his Master does. But I have called you Friends, because everything I have heard from My Father I have made known to you ».

 

Among many, the following was one of those things He has heard from His Father. Let us recall that Impressive Moment when YHVH Elohim gave His Covenant to the Children of Ishrael at Har Sinai, according to Exodus 19 : 5 : « Now therefore, if you will indeed listen to My Voice and keep My Covenant, then you shall be to Me an exemplary treasure above all peoples, for all the earth is Mine ».

 

According to the above-quoted Statements of The Son and The Father, the two behavioral traits of a Friend of Yehoshua HaMashiach should be as follows : To be a listener and to be a keeper of the Covenant of His Father.
