Let us imitate our Creator during our sojourning here !

The Fourth Commandment given by YeHoVaH Elohim

According to these two passages, it is prophetically expected that the nations will know the Way of YHVH Elohim :

Psalms 22 : 27 : « All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to YHVH, and all the families of the different nations will bow down before You ! ».

Psalms 67 : 2 : « That Your Way may be known upon earth and Your Salvation among all nations ! ».

In reference to the title above, here are two instant responses that manifestly acknowledge the Fourth Commandment :
1/ The general and prompt response provided when it is asked how many Commandments did YHVH Elohim give would be : the perfect number
10 ;

2/ The general and prompt response when it is asked what is the title of the famous biblical movie about the exodus of Children of Ishrael out of Egypt is definite : The 10 Commandments.

Moving on ...

According to this passage of Exodus 31 : 18 : « And when He had finished speaking with Moshe on Mount Sinai, then He gave him the Two flat stones of the Testimony, Flat stones written with the Finger of YHVH Elohim », every reader of the Book The Bible learned that the Testimony is comprised of 10 Words or 10 Commandments, and the Fourth Word of Commandment commanded that the Shabbat day is to be remembered and to be kept holy, a day to be set apart for YHVH Elohim, The Creator of the universe.

It is noteworthy to retain from this passage that the Testimony was written on stones, not on leather for example, which should make people understand that The Great Sculptor intended to have His Words to be honored for ever, as something carved on stone cannot be changed.

Once more, let us go through a few passages to better understand what is written about the Fourth Commandment of YHVH Elohim, The Creator of the universe :

1 - Genesis 2 : 1-3. First of all, according to Genesis 1 : 3-5 there was the first day, and this first day was the day after the 7th day, which is the beginning of the week, which is the actual sunday in English vernacular. Picking up ... He created the Day of rest : « Thus the Heaven and the earth were finished and everything in them. And on the seventh day Elohim finished the Work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that he had done. And Elohim blessed the seventh day and made it Holy, because on it Elohim rested from all His Work He had created when He had made them ».

How blessed is thus the 7th day and how precious it was for YHVH Elohim Who created it !

2 - Exodus 20 : 8 - 11 « Remember the Shabbat day to set it apart. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. but the seventh day is a Shabbat to YHVH your Elohim. thus you must not do any work on it, neither your son nor your daughter, nor your male servant nor your female servant nor your cattle, nor the foreigner who is within your gates. For in six days YHVH made Heaven and earth and the sea and all that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day. That is why YHVH blessed the Shabbat day and made it holy ».

To remember is a key-word in this passage. There are 6 working days and for people and for the cattle but on the 7th day no work is to be done.

3 - Exodus 31 : 12-18 : « And YHVH spoke to Moshe and said : And speak to the Children of Ishrael, saying : Keep My Shabbat, for it is a Sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am YHVH Who sanctifies you. Thus keep the Shabbat because it is Holy to you. Everyone who defiles it will surely be put to death, for whoever does any work on it will be cut off from among his people. Six days shall work be done, for the seventh day is a Shabbat of solemn rest, Holy to YHVH. Whoever does any work on the Shabbat day shall surely be put to death. Therefore the Children of Ishrael shall keep the Shabbat to observe it throughout their generations, as a Perpetual Covenant. It will be a Sign between Me and the Children of Ishrael forever. For in six days YHVH made Heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He ceased from work and rested. And when He finished speaking to Moshe upon Mount Sinai, then He gave him the Two flat stones of the Testimony, Flat stones written by the Finger of YHVH Elohim ».

The Creator of the universe has charged the Children of Ishrael to keep the Shabbat as a day of solemn rest, in Hebrew, a Shabbat Shabbaton. Whenever it is written as a complete rest or a solemn rest, it refers to a Shabbat Shabbaton (Exodus 16:23; Exodus 31:15; Leviticus 23:32 ...)

4 - Leviticus 23 : 1-3 : « And YHVH spoke to Moshe and said : Speak to the Children of Ishrael, saying : Concerning the Appointed Seasons instructed by YHVH which you shall proclaim to be Holy Convocations, they are as follows : Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Shabbat of solemn rest a Holy Convocation. You shall do no work, for It is a Shabbat to YHVH in all your dwellings »

5 - Ezekiel 20 : 11-12 : « And I gave them My Statutes and made known to them My Ordinances which give life to people who follow them. Also I gave them My Shabbatot (plural form of Shabbat) to be a Sign between Me and them that they might know that I YHVH sets them apart »

This Statement of Yehoshua HaMashiach definitely affirms that the Fourth Commandment never has been abolished :

6 - Matthew 5 : 17 : « Do not suppose that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets ; I have not come to abolish but to bring to perfection ».

There are here two Statements that definitely oppose to one another. The first totally disagrees with the second. To abolish is in conflct with to bring to perfection. In other words, it was necessary for Him to bring thorough clarity concerning the Instruction given by His Father, Whom they call their Elohim, in view of comprehensive understanding.
The two Powerful Morals : Do not murder your brother in your heart, and do not commit adultery in your eyes.

7 - Hebrews 4 : 4 ; 8-9: " For He has spoken of the 7th day somewhere in this way : And Elohim rested on the 7th day from all His Works » (Gen. 2 : 3) ; while the previous passage speaks about a « rest and reset » after conquest of the land and to inherit it.

Vs 8-9 : After the exodus from the land of slavery : « For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. So then, there remains a Shabbat rest for the people of Elohim. For he who has entered into His Rest, he also has ceased from his works as Elohim did from His ».
The Way of YHVH Elohim our Creator becomes a way of life, becomes ours through obedience.

8 - Mark 2 : 27 : « And He said to them : The Shabbat was made for man, not man for the Shabbat ». Imagine that during the time of our sojourning here we live this life for 7 working days without ceasing, and so on starting another 7 working days without resting, don't you think that we really do need to honor YHVH Elohim our Creator through our body by resting on the 7th day ? Take to heart !

9 - Matthyahu 11 : 28 - 29 : « Come to Me all you who labor and heavy-laden for and I will give you rest ! Take My Yoke upon you and learn from Me ! For I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls ! »

During His Time in the Land of Ishrael or even today around the world, people are always laboring and heavy-laden.Yehoshua HaMashiach made a Promise that if they came to Him they will find peace in their mind, they will no more be
overwhelmed by their worries. He did not allude to the physical rest on the 7th day. Recall for example, according to Yehochanan 20 : 19 that He gave Peace to His Disciples when they were gathering together overwhelmed by their worries because of their fear of the Jews.

On the same note, when He said « to take His Yoke upon them and learn from Him », He used the example of two oxen harnessed under the same yoke to invite them to come to Him because He is willing to bear with them their worries.

In the Last Day, according to Matthyahu 24 : 20 : « But pray that your flight might not take place in winter or on the Shabbat ! »

If this Day will have to take place, as He instructed His Disciples, perhaps we too can ask YHVH Elohim our Creator if He could allow a time of fleeing not during a cold weather or on a Shabbat, the day of physical rest.

Did YHVH Elohim The Creator of the Shabbat send Yehoshua HaMashiach to abolish His Torah, His Instruction, to nail His 4th Commandment on the cross ?

Dear sojourners, as temporary residents on this earth, in order to blessedly enjoy this life here under the sun, let us demonstrate our Love to our Creator, YHVH Elohim, that He may accomplish His Promises towards those who fear His Word !
